Seriously, think about this question. “What are you committed to?”
Do you know how many times we hear, “I wish I could look like you” or “How can I be more at peace?”. If you are truly committed to looking and feeling better, then why do you look the way you do? Why do you eat the foods you eat? Why do you keep smoking? Why do you drink alcohol?
Essentially, you are committed to looking and feeling the way you currently do. If you weren’t then you would change. Enough with the excuses. Saying you want to be 20 pounds lighter yet you will start your “diet” tomorrow essentially means you are committed to weighing what you weigh. “Diets” are not a commitment-lifestyle changes are commitments!
It is truly sad how are society has become. We have become lazier, less accountable and more indulgent. Look around you! What do you see? You see more people overweight and unhappy. This isn’t about having everyone be “fit” or thin. This is about being healthy. Being able to walk around the mall without having to sit and rest for a while (or renting a motorized wheel chair to maneuver through the mall) because of the extra weight you carry. It seems as though the media sells us on “quick fixes” and then when it doesn’t happen in 1 week, we give up and go right back to our regular habits.
COME ON PEOPLE-WAKE UP!
Being fit and being happy is about a lifestyle change. It is about a commitment to packing and preparing your food. A commitment to not drink alcohol excessively. A commitment to train/exercise. A commitment to being a person of integrity. Look inward and access your life. What do you want it to look like?
Some people say, “Well, you only live once…you might as well enjoy it!”. Yet, as soon as they are diagnosed with cancer or another life threatening illness, their habits change. Why wait to get healthy and happy until you are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness?
In the end we all create our lives. It is up to each of us to determine what we are committed to. Where you are now is OK with you otherwise you would make the necessary alterations to change it.
Look at your life and determine what you want it to look like then create a plan to follow daily. COMMIT TO IT!
This isn’t about being like us, your neighbor or your rich cousin!
This is about you committing to being the best you at ANY age!
