I have dieted down to sub 5 maybe 4 percent body fat levels legitimately 15-16 times in my life. No BS.
Some diets were easier than others but now in my 40’s, I figured staying leaner year round would prevent me from coming close to death to get into contest shape. 🙂
Over the years my diet has adjusted with Macro ratios back and forth. Cardio has been up to 2hours and as little as 40min a day. One thing that was always a constant was nonstop hunger and sugar cravings.
Recently I was tasked to get into presentable shape again but this time I had been off all artificial sweeteners for 8 months before starting my diet. The only sugar I was consuming was honey and coconut palm sugar. As soon as I got serious I cut the honey and palm sugar.
It’s truly amazing how your body adapts. I remember biting into a red bell pepper and almost spiting it out, it literally tasted like it was dipped in powdered sugar. In combination with using metformin to keep insulin levels down along with no artificial sweeteners or sugars, I had at least a 50% lower hunger level thought the day and zero sugar cravings.
Artificial sweeteners don’t have sugar in them right? Well that’s right- but they still screw up your taste buds and generate an insulin response not to mention what they do once inside your body.
Let’s recap: Do you want less hunger cravings? Do you want to reset your taste buds so that real food, the food you should be eating tastes better?
Cut the artificial sweeteners and if you have to- only use complete natural sugars like honey and coconut palm sugar.
Control your insulin levels with the help of a glucose disposal agent such as Metformin and always combine your carbs with protein and fat for an even lower glycemic response.
