Education, Politics and the Diet Empire are all teaching one action step.
There is a Part Two so to speak. And here is where everyone gets caught.
It’s not that something, an idea or a result is good or bad. It is that it is information.
These are words only bandied about in math and science. So sad! They are the techniques that lay a path to evolved work and thought. You do something, then you do it again better or different.
You do it hundreds of times and all the results form a scattering of answers that form a new bigger answer. Often people try one thing, for a short period of time then abandon it. They may start over and do the beginning again and again.
The Diet and Fitness industry relies upon this behavior. A lot of sales also rely on peoples brief half-hearted stabs at wishful thinking.
The Lottery definitely feeds upon this fantasy of getting to skip steps and avoid growing pains to get a high level outcome for a cheesy first baby step. The lottery is more effective than taxation! [Come on, that’s funny!]
Two theories regarding omitting teaching free critical thinking to youth is:
- The powers that be expect the student to be incompetent and unable.
- The powers that be fear releasing the keys to the kingdom.
My favorite response to people saying an exercise is hard or it hurts is “Hey! Its challenging and call it ‘extreme sensation’.” Extreme sensation avoids implication and connotation. [Sneaky underhanded second layer meaning that is weakly passive aggressive ]
“Wow! I really feel that!”
Injured animals are less stressed because they skip attaching victimhood to their experience of pain. They don’t sit in their beds blaming government or demanding a lawyer. When we interpret the meaning of events we can increase the loudness of pain and our suffering.
What is my point?
I see many social systems and thought patterns embedded in society that teach polarization as a way of life.
If I only show you endpoints, without explaining the value of what is between them, I cripple you.
This is my buddy Warren Li in Monterey Park, CA. He didn’t go from laying on a couch to laying in the sky! There were hundreds of hours of training layering his agility and skill to pose airborne here.
Each time you have any life experience or interaction with a person or establishment, you have the opportunity to gather data. I am a nerd, obviously. I speak math, a universal language based on logic. It is everywhere. And in this topic, the importance is that between 1 and Zero there are infinite divisions.
When I was in my senior year of high school, I was placed in Calculus. The first topic was limits. I sat in class and stared at the board. I could not comprehend getting closer and closer to something and never never never arriving. That was limits. There were symbols for this concept. I think the teacher saw my face. I was changed to pre-calculus the next session. Later I proceeded.
Tinier and tinier slices and never ever getting to a boundary? Forever??? This is far more intricate than one or zero.
So back to everyday life. It’s not that anyone is a failure or success. It’s not that you are fit or fat. You are not only anything!
If you are breathing you may just about be on the brink of just about anything. If you only see your experience of life as ones or zeros, as endpoints, as finality, you are overlooking great potential, open doorways, a varied future, growth and learning.
LIFE = Limits= You endlessly explore them and THEN you die.
Baby Steps & Salami Tactics:
What are Salami Tactics? I googled it for you!
By noting where you are and where you would like to head next, we chose our baby steps.
It can be clicking upon a book link or webinar.
This wheel chair aerial [Aaron Fotheringham] wasn’t filmed the day after his condition or injury changed his lower body.
He felt compelled to act upon his urge to fly and sail. He adapted after many trials a fitted device that responds to his movements. It’s stunning!
Patterns of Thinking Design your Stage or your Cage:
Is it possible that an entire country can exhibit neurosis?
If everyone gets a trophy just for participating, how do children learn what is in between winning and losing?
We seem to be a nation fixated on all or nothing thinking. Republican or Democrat? Male or Female? Black or White? “Which toilet shall I use? [really?]”
And blends with shades of grey (that tally to under 50 in number) seem to cause fear with associated blindness and deafness.
Hybrids, mixtures of known or accepted norms, confuse and scatter the populous in panic until they can be packaged as a “one” or “winner.”
In the field of mental health this pattern of thought is industry wide accepted as a demarcation of ILLNESS. Exhibited by a nation, there seems to be no qualified psychiatrist to address what afflicts everyone.
It causes unnecessary pain and the delay of solutions with a forward momentum.
The office of president is where we need this eloquent inspiring leader to heal a busy population of frightened humans fighting over trifles while the ship floats out to sea unguided bleeding money.
In fitness people are bodybuilders or power lifters, ballet or hip hop, basketball or Parkour?
There are unlimited combinations of every type of rhythm, energy, gender, style or strength.
Adjectives are not IDENTITIES!!!! They also are not PRISONS.
If we could see the forest and spend less fixation on branches of yoga.
Identifying a symptom or illness is the first step of healing.
Keep your beliefs and needs intact. They are yours! We respect each element. As a nation as a people can we not just “get along “( Google Rodney King) but see a greater variety of options sooner? Working together to share real tangible functional systems.
We are so afraid of change while demanding everything be different, we are an envied and hated country of neurotics. The stable minded just keep to themselves; they never paint their bodies and handcuff themselves to trees to gain media attention for 30 seconds of camera time.
There are ratios and proportions of failures to losses, expenses to earnings. These GRADATIONS allow a team or individual to move towards the next level of learning or operations. Staying a course does not mean standing still.
We need to teach children flexible critical thinking [FCT], a response to life that creatively worked leads to growth.
Okay and quite a few adults may prosper using the same ideas.
Be the BEST YOU EVER!
