Motivation and inspiration are so often used interchangeably that many will argue that they’re the same thing.
However, motivation is usually needed when we want to get something done and in relation to something we’d rather not do.
Inspiration, on the other hand, comes from somewhere else entirely. Instead of demanding to be felt, it comes to us when we’re are self-aware and in tune with our spirit.
And that’s why it’s often so difficult to achieve. With motivation, you simply have to find a fitting incentive to psyche yourself out. But in order to feel inspired, you have to open yourself up and encourage it to spark your creativity and expand your vision.
Are you seeking inspiration? Here are 7 ways that I’ve found can help keep you inspired:
1. Don’t Stop Learning
Personal development and growth are the keys to staying inspired. When you maintain a sense of curiosity and consistently look for opportunities to learn, your mind never stops welcoming innovation and imagination.
You don’t have to go far but do go somewhere you’ve never been. It’s amazing what a new place can do for the soul. Traveling allows you to see new things and have new experiences which help invigorate you and keep you inspired to discover new things.
3. Enjoy Alone Time
There is beauty in solitude. To be alone is not to be mistaken for being lonely or being anti-social. In fact, studies have found that people who seek solitude are more creative. Being alone means you have freedom and more importantly, the silence, to enjoy uninhibited daydreaming.
4. Get Moving
Exercise isn’t just for pumping your muscles, but it’s for giving your brain a boost too. Exercise stimulates the release of chemicals in your brain that promotes healthy brain cells and develops new blood vessels. On top of that, endorphins are released which help prevent depression, a killer of inspiration.
5. Go Outside Your Comfort Zone
Try a new hobby, sign up for a class, learn a new language, or join a club. The point is to do something you’ve always wanted to try but may have been hesitant to do because you felt it wasn’t “you.” To stay inspired, you need to keep learning about yourself and your limits. You need to encourage yourself to gain new experiences and knowledge.
6. Let Others Inspire You
Read inspirational stories. Watch success stories online. Talk to people and let their life stories inspire you. Inspiration can be contagious, and when you see how other people’s lives have changed for the better because they fought to stay motivated and sought inspiration, you’ll feel inspired too.
7. Give Back
Sometimes giving your time to others who need it is an incredible way to get to improve your self-awareness. When you recognize that you can make a big impact in your own small way, it will keep you inspired to strive to be better, love yourself, and practice gratitude. And you never know, you just may end up being a source of inspiration for others.
