We all love to enjoy a little pampering here and there, but when pampering means slashing your weekly budget in half, we’ll usually skip it, right? Well, not necessarily. With so many great natural beauty treatments you can try at home, there are still plenty of options to get the best facial treatment for your skin.
Here are five of our favorite natural face masks you can make at home:
Banana Facial Masks
Why spend excessive amounts of cash on Botox when you can get the same effect with bananas? Yes, you’ve heard it right! Bananas can be used to prepare an all-natural, homemade facial mask that will not only leave your skin looking and feeling softer but moisturize it better than any cream.
Make a banana smooth paste using a medium-sized ripe banana; then, apply it to your face and neck gently and let it set for 10 to 20 minutes. Rinse the paste off with cold water. You may feel some tightening on the face. Another mask recipe you want to try is a mixture of 1 medium banana, two tablespoons honey and 1/4 cup plain yogurt. This mask is an excellent natural acne remedy.
Vinegar Facial Masks
If you want wars started for your benefit, take the beauty recipe from Helen of Troy. As (beauty) history records show, Helen used vinegar as a skin toner which gave her that fantastic glow she was recognized for.
Wash your face thoroughly with just water, then treat it to a finishing rinse with a mix of 2 cups water and one tablespoon apple cider vinegar. This should cleanse and tighten your skin, lessen facial wrinkles and give it a youthful glow. Another excellent face mask is a mixture of 1/4 cup water and 1/4 cup cider vinegar: apply the solution to your face gently and let it dry.
Milk Facial Mask
Who needs to go to a fancy spa, when you can have the same effect at home using milk? Mix 1/4 cup powdered milk with water until you form a thick paste. Coat your face with it thoroughly then let it dry completely. When you feel your face is getting tight, rinse it with warm water. Your face will feel rejuvenated and fresh.
Oatmeal Facial Masks
Give yourself an oatmeal facial whenever you’re looking for a quick pick-me-up that will leave you looking better and feeling amazing. All it takes for this fantastic facial mask is 1/2 cup hot water and 1/3 cup oatmeal. Leave the water-oatmeal mixture to settle for two or three minutes, then mix in 2 tablespoons honey, two tablespoons plain yogurt, and one small egg white. Gently apply the mixture to your face in a thin layer, and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse afterward.
Mayonnaise Facial Masks
One of the best soothing homemade face masks you’ll ever try is none other than a mayonnaise mask. Use a whole-egg mayonnaise from your refrigerator and spread it over your face. Leave the mayo on your face about 20 minutes, then wipe it off and rinse with cool water. You’ll instantly feel your look is smoother, cleaner and glowing.
Often, the best remedies for maintaining youthful looking skin are somewhere in our kitchen and fridge – we only need to know how to use them. We hope the above masks help!
